St. Joseph's Day Dance

Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchman are back to celebrate St. Joseph's Day with the Czech Heritage Foundation! This year's St. Joseph's Day Dance will feature the popular band along with a raffle and bake sale. Also be on the lookout for Czech royalty! The Dance will be held at the Ponderosa Ballroom in Walford, IA from 2:00 - 6:00pm on Sunday, March 10. 6 Weeks to Submit Miss Czech-Slovak IA Application

Be a part of the longest-running cultural pageant in the United States, and participate in the Miss Czech-Slovak Iowa pageant. Young women aged 16-26 compete for the title of Miss Czech-Slovak Iowa at the annual Houby Days festival in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The competition includes a public and private interview with each contestant, a talent competition, and a kroj modeling competition.The winner of this pageant receives over $500 in prizes, and goes on to represent the state of Iowa in the National Miss Czech-Slovak Pageant held in Wilber, NE where she competes for a national title and over $10,000 in prizes. 2013 Czech Prince and Princess

The Czech Heritage Foundation crowned Czech Prince Brennan Bell and Czech Princess Kelsey Pokorny at their February 2013 Meeting.Brennan is the son of Cindy Hadish and Jeff Bell.  He attends Franklin Middle School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Brennan plays the clarinet and basson, and is involved in activities at St. Wenceslaus Church, the Indian Creek Nature Center, and the Cedar Rapids Czech School.Kelsey, a sophomore at North Tama High School, is the daughter of Mike and Ronda Pokorny of Elberon, Iowa. She is involved in FCCLA, chorus, show choir, and dances with the CR Spirits.The prince and princess will represent the Czech Heritage Foundation and the local Czech community at events throughout the coming year.
